Residential Roofing
in Rapid City & the Black Hills

Atlas stands ready to meet a wide range of your roofing replacement needs.  As specialists in a variety of systems:

  • Fiberglass Shingles
  • Asphalt Shingles
  • Metal Roofing
  • Wood Shake

What to Expect…

We explain the entire process at the time we commit to replace your roof.  On construction day, our crews arrive early to tarp your property, keeping your landscaping safe.  After working all day, our crew cleans up with a magnetic broom to ensure your yard and driveway are just as pristine as when they arrived.

Better Materials & Process…

Many companies will use traditional felt paper as the shingle underlayment.  At Atlas, we use a synthetic material that is far more durable, standing up to the tests of time of our Black Hills weather.

We will never put a second layer of shingles on an existing roof.  Existing shingles are removed to inspect the wood deck below.  Rotten decking is always replaced to ensure your new roof is completely safe for years to come.  This is a critically important step – a compromised base can cause your brand new roofing system to fail.

Your Investment …

Your roof replacement may be one of the greatest expenses you incur as a property owner.  We use only high-quality products to ensure we maintain the value of your property.  Once we have replaced your roof, we will walk you through the warranty fine print so that you know what to expect and how to continue to protect your roof.

Our dedicated craftsmanship will make you so glad you chose Atlas Exteriors.  From your first call to installation of the final screw!

Asphalt Roofing – Tried & True

Asphalt roofing has been around since 1903 and people started using them regularly by 1939 – when approximately 11M SQ were being produced.  Obviously, asphalt roofing has stood the test of time – here are some very good reasons for their longevity:

  • durability, affordability, & a variety of options
  • aesthetically pleasing
  • ease of installation

Whether you purchase fiberglass or organic shingles for your residential or commercial roof, you will get a reliable, durable roof that is leak-resistant when installed by a professional.

Depending upon the shingle manufacturer, your roof can last 15-30 years! Ideally weighted, asphalt shingles do not require reinforcement, but have an incredible wind rating of up to 130mph.  This means that asphalt roof is perfect for The Black Hills, where wind can be a formidable force.

And compared to other roofing materials, the pricing on an asphalt roof cannot be beat!  The easier installation also saves you time and money, as this roofing job is usually completed faster, and with less labor costs than other kinds of roofing.

A particularly fun aspect of asphalt roofing is in its aesthetic variety.  With a wide variety of shapes and sizes, colors, and styles, if everyone on your block covered their roofs in architectural asphalt shingles today, each house could still look dramatically different!

For the variety, cost-effectiveness, and durability, it is hard to beat an asphalt roof from Atlas Exteriors!

Metal Roofing – A Game Changer

Metal roofs can truly be an investment in the equity of your home.  Unparalleled durability meets energy efficiency.  A significant increase to your home’s resale value makes high-quality metal roofing a game-changer.  Resistant to cracking, shrinking, and erosion, metal roofing systems can withstand any kind of weather system, from hail to tornado to wildfire.

As the demand for environmentally sustainable home solutions grows, your metal roof, that could last as long as 60-70 years, will also be fully recyclable at the end of its usage cycle!

And then there’s the energy efficiency to consider.  A recent US Department of Energy study has shown that any metal roof system has the capacity to decrease the flow of heat with a metal roof by as much as 45%.  That works out to an almost 25% reduction in cooling costs per home!

Not only can a metal roof be visually pleasing, it is actually a long-term investment in your home and your planet!
